Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp with Chipotle BBQ Sauce

  • 16 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 slices of bacon, cut in half
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, minced
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Wooden toothpicks


  1. Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, minced chipotle peppers, honey, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well to make the chipotle BBQ sauce.
  3. Take each shrimp and wrap it with a half-slice of bacon. Secure the bacon in place by inserting a wooden toothpick through the shrimp.
  4. Brush the bacon-wrapped shrimp with the chipotle BBQ sauce, coating them evenly on all sides.
  5. Place the shrimp on the preheated grill or on a baking sheet if using the oven. Cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bacon is crispy and the shrimp is cooked through. If using the oven, bake for approximately 12-15 minutes, turning the shrimp halfway through.
  6. Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the grill or oven and let them cool slightly.
  7. Serve the bacon-wrapped shrimp with chipotle BBQ sauce as an appetizer or main dish. You can remove the toothpicks before serving or let your guests do it themselves.
